The launch of new iPhone 4 not only add to the striking collection of Apple products but also becomes a strategic step of the technoligical giant to reinforce their top position among other mobile phone manufacturers with very high specification phones. So is this new addition extraordinary in comparison with other handsets?
Certainly in more recent years, the name Apple has become synonymous with the world renowned iPod. So it is only natural to expect the audio features to excel on the new iPhone 4. Working in much the same manner as the iPod Touch, the music features are great, and ignoring the host of others functions available this in its own right is a great music player. Thanks to the new high resolution “Retina” display that the handset boasts, cover art looks superb on the 3.5″ screen. There are two ways to search for the track that you want to hear. When held on its side, the interface looks superb with a carousel wheel featuring all of your albums on display. From there it is a matter of scrolling through and selecting the one you want. In its upright position the method is much more functional, with a range of options including, Artist, Genre and Song to choose from. A handy new feature on this model is the ability to add make your own playlists whilst on the move, rather than relying on the iTunes program to do so. The iPhone 4’s two storage options cater for all types of user, with most people finding the 16GB version more than sufficient to handle their collection. There is however the option of a 32GB model for those people who require that bit extra. You need never be let down by headphone quality as any pair can be used on the phone thanks to a 3.5mm stereo socket, freeing you from the restraints of using the manufacturers supplied pair.
Whilst on the subject of media features, it is only right to talk about the excellent High Definition video capture that the iPhone 4 offers. Keeping in line with the range of home televisions and camcorders now available, Apple have given the handset the capability of shooting footage at 30 frames per second in superb 720P HD quality. A new iMovies app is also available for download which allows you to perform basic editing feature with your film. You can even upload this straight to sites like YouTube thanks to the great internet connectivity that is on offer, which includes super fast WiFi. Still shots are great to, with the 5 mega pixel camera improving on the one found in the 3GS, with the added bonus of an LED flash, zoom and auto focus facility. A new second front facing camera is also included. Although this generally wont be used for taking standard photos, it is however essential should you want to take advantage of Apples excellent new video calling system, Facetime.
A wide array of other great features can be found on the iPhone 4 in addition to the brilliant multimedia functions. Throw into the mix a stylish new design which is the thinnest currently available and you have yourselves the best phone currently available anywhere.
